There are two types of vultures in North America, the ever expanding Turkey Vulture which is showing up farther north into Canada every year. This bird is seen right across the USA. Then there is the Black Vulture, which lives in the south-eastern States and into Mexico.
The Turkey Vulture is able to find carrion with its eyesight or with its sense of smell, unlike the Black Vulture who is able to find its food only visually.
