Greater Scaup range map

The Greater Scaup is the larger of the two native scaups seen in North America, the Lesser Scaup is the second. These ducks are also kown as Blue Bills. During spring and fall migrations, these waterfowl are seen in very large rafts on lakes and rivers. The native Ringed-necked Duck and the vagrant Tufted Duck have similar coloured plumages. This scaup has been reported as a rare visitor to Cuba.
