The White-breasted Nuthatch is a bird that is recognized by how it moves along the trunks of trees in search of food. This is a hardy bird that does not migrate in the winter months. It is a common sight around backyard bird feeding stations, where it has a preference for black-oiled sunflower seeds.

It was with this list that all the competing birders used in an attempt to set a new record as to how many bird species that could be seen by an individual birder in one calendar year.
